Torino midfielder Samuele Ricci has addressed the numerous reports linking him to Premier League giants Manchester City. While acknowledging that being linked to a club like City feels "nice," Ricci stated that he is focused on his development and performances.

Samuel Ricci has reportedly been the subject of interest from Manchester City since their stalwart defensive midfielder Rodri suffered an injury that ruled him out for the season. The Cityzens are considering signing the 23-year-old in January to fill the void left by Rodri.

In an interview with Sky Sport Italia, Ricci addressed the swirling rumors and offered a glimpse into his mindset regarding the growing speculation about his future. He said (via Team Talk):

“I’ve learned to understand a little: as soon as you do well, lots of things come out. They’re nice, but you shouldn’t let it get to your head. I still have to improve on many things. I look at them, friends send me articles. However, I think more about concrete things and that is the green rectangle [pitch].”

Samuele Ricci came through Empoli’s youth academy before joining Torino on a loan deal in January 2022. Six months later, Torino signed him permanently in a deal reportedly worth €8.5 million. In his two years at the Turin-based club, he has scored three goals and provided six assists in 86 outings across competitions.

Torino sporting director speaks about Samuele Ricci’s links with Manchester City

Torino sporting director Davide Vagnati has spoken about midfielder Samuele Ricci being linked with a move to Manchester City. Vagnati refused to talk about City’s current situation with Ricci but said the Italian defensive midfielder can play for any coach or club. He told Sky Sports Italia (via GOAL):

"I won’t comment on Manchester City. What I can say is that we signed Ricci when he was very young and it was an important investment, we and the President believed in him and spent big money for this player."
"He believed in his work, has improved a great deal physically, he already had the vision, and I think he is capable of playing for any coach or club."

In the ongoing season, Ricci has played every match for Torino. He has become an integral part of the team, playing as the deepest midfielder in front of the club’s back three.
