Ex-Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has admitted that he wasn't a big fan of former Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos. While the German tactician managed to win the UEFA Champions League once at Anfield, he had his share of difficulties against the Spanish giants in this competition.

Before reigning victorious in Europe's highest club competitions, the Reds suffered a 3-1 defeat in the final of this tournament to Real Madrid in 2018. The ex-Sevilla man was criticized for bringing down Mohamed Salah, who was forced off in the 30th minute of this tie with a shoulder injury.

Speaking about Ramos, MARCA quoted Klopp saying (via Football Espana):

“If you see him again and you’re not from Real Madrid you think he’s ruthless and brutal. If you put together all of Ramos’ actions, and I’ve watched football since I was five years old, you’ll see that a lot of things happen with Ramos. I think in a situation like Ramos with Salah someone needs to judge it better."
"Is Mr. Sergio Ramos really a good guy? He is not my favorite player. The action was brutal. Of course, he can’t know it’s going to hurt his shoulder but we all know he accepted it very happily. I could never understand that mentality, I never had players like that and, when I did, I made sure they left."

While Ramos has a reputation for being aggressive, he's accomplished a fair bit. While at the Santiago Bernabeu, the defender made 671 appearances across competitions, bagging 101 goals and 40 assists. The 38-year-old won four Champions League trophies and five LaLiga trophies at the club.

Trent Alexander-Arnold's future remains uncertain, with the Liverpool defender in the final year of his contract at Anfield. The Independent, among other news outlets, has linked the England international with a move to Real Madrid in the January transfer window.

It is believed that Los Blancos are looking for a new long-term successor to Dani Carvajal, who is also out for an extended period this year due to injury. If Alexander-Arnold isn't eager to sign a new deal with Liverpool, the Reds could sell him in January in order to avoid losing him for free in the summer.

After coming up the ranks in Merseyside, the right-back has made 322 senior team appearances across competitions, bagging 19 goals and 83 assists. He's won the Champions League and the Premier League once each, among other honors at the club.
