Sporting president Frederico Varandas has provided an update about striker Viktor Gyokeres, amid interest from Arsenal, Manchester United, and Barcelona. According to the chief, the Sweden international could be on his way out of the Portuguese outfit fairly soon.

However, he has clarified that the number nine is unlikely to leave in January but could see the exit doors in the summer of 2025. Gyokeres is also going to be an expensive buy, with his current contract in place till the summer of 2028.

It is believed that the player has a release clause worth £83 million in his deal, which may need to be met in order to see this deal through. Speaking about the future of Gyokeres, Varandas said (via Flash Score):

"I can't promise anything. If a club arrives and pays the release clause (£83million), if he wants to go… he will go. But I do not think this will happen in January."

The chance to move to any of the aforementioned sides would seem a great step in the 26-year-old's career. He may have to consider a few factors before deciding to join one of these teams.

Manchester United currently have two strikers at the club in Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee, who will provide competition to Gyokeres for minutes. Meanwhile, Arsenal are without an out-and-out striker and have German star Kai Havertz leading the line at the Emirates.

Lastly, Barcelona are looking for a new long-term option, with Robert Lewandowski entering the final years of his contract at Camp Nou. Therefore, a move to either the Emirates or Catalunya may seem more favorable for Gyokeres.

Ruben Amorim has commenced his stay at Manchester United after putting an end to his spell with Sporting. According to a report from Calciomercato, the Portuguese tactician wishes to bring Viktor Gyokeres to Old Trafford, amid competition from Arsenal and Barcelona (via Football Transfers).

Moreover, this could reportedly mean the end of Joshua Zirkzee's time in Manchester, a player who only signed for the club in the summer of 2024. He's also been pushed to the bench of late, with Rasmus Hojlund taking up the number nine spot in the first XI.

To date, Zirkzee has made 17 appearances across competitions for Manchester United, bagging one goal. On the other hand, Gyokeres is flying high with Sporting, having netted 16 times in 11 league matches.
