Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has shared an interesting metaphor while explaining his temperament. The legendary Italian tactician has been the brains behind Los Blancos' newfound success in recent years, establishing them as a force in European football.

Last season, he led the spanish giants to an impressive double, winning LaLiga and the Champions League. However, this season has not started with the same run of form. Despite being yet to lose, Madrid have not met expectations, winning just two games in their first four league matches of the season.

Having massive expectations around his job as Real Madrid's head coach and manager cannot be easy. However, Carlo Ancelotti has often come off as a highly-composed manager on the sidelines, where he is rarely lively.

He spoke about his temperament in an interview with Marca, using a metaphor to explain (via Madrid Universal):

“I rarely get angry, but when I do I go pretty crazy. The horse has two ways to jump: with the whip or with the carrot. He jumps both ways. You have to choose. If you hit him with the whip he can throw you behind later, if you give him a carrot he will help you."

He also spoke about the expectations and pressures he had to deal with, stating:

“Real Madrid have very high demands because they are the biggest club in the world. They have the biggest players. You have to be able to put their quality at the service of the club, that’s what we try to do every year."

Indeed, the demands are high, and he will need to ensure he can meet them, potentially leading Los Blancos to defend their title and trophies successfully. The task has already begun difficultly, with Barcelona sitting ahead of them on the league table with a four point gap.

Real Madrid see seven players named on Ballon d'Or shortlist

Last season's brilliant performances by Real Madrid have already yielded fruits with the trophies they won. However, at the individual level, the club could yet enjoy more glory, as a Los Blancos superstar could win the Ballon d'Or this year.

The award shortlist of 30 candidates was revealed, with an impressive seven making the cut. These include Jude Bellingham, Dani Carvajal, now-retired Toni Kroos, Antonio Rudiger, Federico Valverde, Vinicius Junior, and Kylian Mbappe, who was newly signed.

On October 28, the Ballon d'Or will be awarded, and Los Blancos will be hoping their players make up the top three positions on the podium. The club was also nominated for the Club of the Year award, having won three trophies last season.
