Former Manchester United defender Mikael Silvestre has urged the club to sign Marc Guehi in the upcoming January transfer window. The Frenchman believes Guehi would fit into head coach Ruben Amorim's pattern.
Silvestre also pointed out that a top-four finish in the Premier League is beyond the reach of the Red Devils. He suggested that a fifth or sixth-place Premier League finish in the 2024-25 season could be a more logical prediction.
Silvestre spoke about the Red Devils and Guehi via TEAMTALK:
“What he is doing at Palace is proving he can be tested and perform week in and week out. I have been really impressed with his performances and I think he’d fit in really well with Ruben Amorim’s style of play."
"He is not shy of playing vertical passes and is always alert, he is strong, wins his duels and is good one on one, he’d fit in well at United," he added.
Guehi has lately been linked with a move to Old Trafford and his reported valuation could be in the region of £50 million. This season, the Englishman has registered three goal contributions in 18 appearances for Crystal Palace.
In 15 Premier League games, he has won 70 ground duels and has registered 78 clearances. If signed, his defensive solidity could enhance Manchester United's defense.
The Red Devils are ranked 13th in the league standings, having registered 19 points from 15 games. They are also eight points behind Manchester City who are ranked fourth.
Manchester United interested in signing Diego Leon from Cerro Porteno - Reports
The Red Devils are in talks with Cerro Porteno over the potential signing of Diego Leon, as per journalist Fabrizio Romano. It is believed that his potential transfer fee could be in the region of $4 million.
Leon is a talented left-back whose ability to take on and dribble past his opponent is outstanding. He's also a pacey defender whose defensive awareness and ball-winning proficiency are impressive.
At Cerro Porteno, Leon can be described as an energetic modern-day left-back. In 19 appearances this season, he has registered two assists. The Paraguay international could be seen as Luke Shaw's long-term replacement if signed.
The 17-year-old could also be seen as a player who fits into INEOS's objectives of signing young talent rather than aged players. If signed by Manchester United, he could serve the club for several years, hence fulfilling their long-term objectives.
