Chris Sutton has predicted Arsenal to come out victorious in their upcoming Premier League match against Everton at the Emirates on Saturday, December 14. The Gunners go into this tie on the back of a 1-1 draw with Fulham in the league previous league tie at Craven Cottage.
However, the north Londoners put together a strong display in midweek to win 3-0 against Monaco in the UEFA Champions League at home on December 11. Predicting a 2-0 scoreline for Mikel Arteta's team's, Sutton wrote (via BBC Sport):
"Arsenal dominated Fulham in their draw last weekend, but did not create much from open play. Fulham are a well-organised team, but I was still a little disappointed in Mikel Arteta's side. Martin Odegaard was not as influential as usual, and it showed, but the Gunners were still a threat from set-pieces, which is how they got their goal."
He added:
"The Gunners are definitely more pragmatic this season but fair play to them for being so effective at set-pieces - a few other teams must wish they carried the same level of threat in those situations - and I don't see them slipping up against Everton."
"Sean Dyche's side will sit in and they don't mind a set-piece either, so this could be a battle of who is better at corners, but I'd back Arsenal to come out on top."
The Gunners need to ensure they win this match to keep pace with Premier League leaders Liverpool. Arteta and Co. are third in the standings, six points behind the Reds, who have a game in hand.
Arsenal receive massive Gabriel injury boost ahead of Everton clash- Reports
Arsenal have reportedly received a major injury boost with key defender Gabriel returning to training ahead of their next league game against Everton. A report from the Daily Mail claims that the Brazil international will be in contention to feature against the Toffees.
Gabriel hasn't seen any minutes for the Gunners since the 5-2 win against West Ham United on November 30, where he seemingly picked up a knee issue. Jakub Kiwior, who has often been deployed at left-back recently, has acted as cover in the 26-year-old's absence.
Arsenal have also been potent from corners this season, of which Gabriel has been a very crucial component. In 19 appearances across competitions this season, he's netted four times, with all of these goals being headed efforts.
