Premier League icon David Beckham has likened Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold to himself. The former Manchester United winger explained that he sees himself in the 26-year-old in the way he delivers the ball on the pitch.

It goes without saying that Alexander-Arnold has been a vital cog in Liverpool's squad for several years now. The defender has always stood out with the way he composes himself on the ball and delivers it with incredible accuracy. He's now considered one of the best passers the Premier League has seen in recent years.

Speaking during an interview on Rio Ferdinand's YouTube channel "Rio Ferdinand Presents", David Beckham reckoned that he sees himself in the 26-year-old while drawing similarities with the latter.

“I suppose if there was one player where I look at and I think, he’s very similar in the way he delivers the ball, he’s very similar in the way he crosses the ball or passes, it has to be Trent," the Englishman said.
“When I look at a player and I think: ‘I see myself in the way he puts the ball in, in what he sees in the long balls that he plays.’ You know, he plays balls that some players don’t even think about. And that’s what I love about him as a player,” he added.

Following Jurgen Klopp's departure, Trent Alexander-Arnold has managed to keep his position in the team by convincing new manager Arne Slot with a series of eye-catching performances. So far, the defender has featured in each of Liverpool's nine games across the Premier League and the Champions League. He's amassed a total playing time of 749 minutes and contributed two assists.

What is next for Liverpool?

With the international break coming to an end this week, club football is set to return to center stage at the weekend. Liverpool will be busy as they have a massive fixture to look forward to.

The Reds are scheduled to go head-to-head with Chelsea in a Premier League clash at Anfield on Sunday, October 20. Following that, they'll take on RB Leipzig in the Champions League on October 23 before returning to action in the English top flight where they'll face Arsenal at the Emirates.

As it stands, Arne Slot's men sit atop the table in the EPL with 18 points from seven games, having recorded six victories and one defeat to their name so far. How they cope with the tough run of fixtures on the horizon will reveal a lot about their capacity to fight for the title this season.
