Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton reckons Chelsea attacker Raheem Sterling could be a 'good' addition at Arsenal. The 29-year-old has had an underwhelming spell at Stamford Bridge.

Since arriving from Manchester City in the summer of 2022, Sterling has contributed just 19 goals and 12 assists in 81 games across competitions. The Englishman has been told that he's surplus to requirements.

With the transfer window set to close on Friday (August 30), Sutton feels Sterling could be a solid addition to the Gunners, telling Sky Sports (via TBR):

“Oh blimey, yeah. I think that would be a great move for Raheem Sterling and maybe Arsenal, in the wide areas, they don’t have that strength in depth, so there’s a strong argument to say that Raheem Sterling would be a good addition for Arsenal."
“Raheem Sterling at Chelsea, I don’t think, in the last couple of seasons, has hit the heights, so I think Raheem Sterling would bite an arm off to get across to Arsenal, if that can happen."

Despite being contracted to Stamford Bridge till 2027, Sterling seems to have played his last for the Blues.

Arsenal and Chelsea have had decent starts to their Premier League campaign, especially the Gunners. Mikel Arteta's side opened their campaign with a 2-0 home win over Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Attackers Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka scored either side of the break, with both players assisting the other as well. The Gunners continued their perfect start to the season with a 2-0 win at Aston Villa last weekend.

Leandro Trossard and Thomas Partey were on the scoresheet for Arteta's side as they registered consecutive league wins without conceding to open a season for only the third time and first in 52 years. The Gunners next face Brighton & Hove Albion at home on Saturday (August 31). They beat Brighton 2-0 at home and 3-0 away last season.

Meanwhile, Chelsea commenced their campaign with a 2-0 home loss to four-time defending champions Manchester City in their Premier League opener. The Blues, though, registered their first win under new boss Enzo Maresca by defeating Servette 2-0 in midweek in their UEFA Europa Conference League play-off first leg.

Maresca's side then registered their first league win of the season by winning 6-2 at Wolves. Coming off a midweek 2-1 loss at Servette, the Blues take on Crystal Palace at home in the league on Sunday (September 1).
