Gary Neville explains why Arsenal and Liverpool-linked ace is currently better than Manchester City's Erling Haaland

Pundit Gary Neville has claimed that Liverpool and Arsenal target Alexander Isak is currently the best striker in the Premier League. The former Manchester United full-back has insisted that the Sweden international is an overall better striker than Manchester City's goal machine Erling Haaland.

Isak has been in excellent form for Newcastle United this season and has been improving his game consistently. Since his reported £63 million move from Real Sociedad in 2022, the Swede has gone from strength to strength and is currently in the form of his career.

The 25-year-old has found the back of the net 13 times in 20 games across competitions this season while also providing four assists. In total, the Arsenal and Liverpool target has bagged 48 goals and produced nine assists in 87 appearances for the Tynesiders thus far.

Gary Neville has hailed Isak for how well-rounded he is as a striker. He also claimed that the Liverpool and Arsenal target is much more complete as an attacker than Manchester City's Erling Haaland.

Neville said on The Gary Neville Podcast, as quoted by TBR Football:

“Isak’s movement and the quality of his play – he’s absolutely fantastic. He’s improving all the time, we know he can score goals, he can run, but also his hold-up play and link with others I think he’s got better and better the more he’s been at Newcastle."

The pundit added:

“We threw back to the studio, Dave Jones asked Jamie Carragher if he was the best striker in the Premier League, at this moment, I think he is. Purely because you watch Erling Haaland a lot and he’s a world-class striker but his general play is nothing like Isak’s at this moment in time.”

Erling Haaland has not been at his absolute best this season, with Manchester City struggling on the pitch. Despite that, he has 19 goals in 26 games across competitions but his overall game has been pretty poor.

On the other hand, Isak has 13 goals and four assists to his name this campaign despite missing five games with an injury. The Newcastle United talisman has been heavily linked with an exit from St. James' Park with Liverpool and Arsenal named as admirers.
