Chris Sutton has tipped Manchester City to return to winning ways when they face Leicester City in the Premier League. Pep Guardiola's men will travel to the King Power Stadium on Saturday (December 29) to face Rudd van Nistelrooy's side.

Both teams are on a run of poor results, with either side without a win in their last four games in the Premier League. City, meanwhile, have won just one of their last 13 games across competitions.

However, football pundit Sutton believes that the game against Leicester City could be an opportunity for Manchester City to get back to winning ways.

Guardiola's men, who are now seventh in the league table, have picked up just two wins in their last 10 league games. A win against Leicester City could potentially give the Citizens the much-needed morale boost they have been looking for.

Sutton wrote in his column for BBC Sport:

"Manchester City are on a terrible run of results but, as woeful as their recent performances have been, they are still not as bad as Leicester. The Foxes have conceded at least three goals in their past three matches and maybe they are the kind of opposition that Pep Guardiola's side need to face to start firing again.

He continued:

"Leicester did show some spirit in their defeat by Liverpool last time out, but I said before that game that I think Ruud van Nistelrooy has a huge job on his hands to try to keep them up, and my opinion about that has not changed.
"I don't think Manchester City will run away with this but the only thing I am unsure about is whether to give Leicester a goal. If Jamie Vardy is available, then I think they will score - but they will still lose regardless."

Sutton predicted a 2-1 win in favor of Manchester City, while fellow analyst Emma-Jean tipped City to win 3-1.

"I will not give up" - Pep Guardiola speaks ahead Manchester City's visit to Leciester City

The under-fire manager has revealed that he is determined to turn things around at Manchester City, following a string of disappointing results this season. Despite a decent start to the 2024-25 football campaign, the Citizens currently find themselves seventh in the league, with just two wins in their last 10 games.

Ahead of the game against struggling Leicester City, Guardiola expressed optimism with regards to turning things around at the club. He said via Eurosport:

"I will try, I will keep going. I will not give up. I want to be here. I want to do it and, with the situation that we have, we have to do it. Of course I want it [to end the bad run], everyone wants it. I don't want to disappoint my people in terms of the club, the fans, the people who love this club.

He added:

"I think all of us in our job want to do it well and please the people. That is undeniable, not a question mark. The biggest test is to come back again, but we have done that before."

Guardiola would be hoping to get his team back on track as they aim to defend their league title. The Spaniard is in his eighth year at City and recently extended his contract by two years.
