Former England striker-turned-pundit Peter Crouch has made his prediction for the big game between Arsenal and Liverpool on Sunday, October 27. The two Premier League title chasers take on each other at the Emirates in what could be one of the biggest games of the season.
Peter Crouch, who represented Liverpool between 2005 and 2008, has claimed that it could be a close game. He, however, eventually went for a 2-1 win for his former club even though he was leaning towards a draw at first.
Crouch, who won 42 caps for England scoring 22 times, said, as quoted by TBR Football:
“There has been draws in this game, right? So, two of the last three meetings have forever been draws. obviously, they’re both battling out for the title."
"I think it might be cagey. I think, you know, both defences are like, I know they’re missing Saliba, Calafiori, Arsenal."
The former Tottenham Hotspur and Stoke City striker added:
“So, they have got a few injury doubts. So, Liverpool could nick it. I’m leaning towards a draw, but I’m going to back Liverpool to win, 2-1.”
Arsenal have faced the Merseyside giants a total of 242 times to date winning on 83 occasions and losing 95 times while drawing 64 games. Arne Slot's side will be keen to secure all three points that would see them go to the top of the table once again.
Mikel Arteta's side, meanwhile, are currently six points behind Manchester City and will need to secure a victory at any cost to remain a strong title challenger. However, with William Saliba suspended and Riccardo Calafiori injured, they will be on the back foot.
Arne Slot points out what Liverpool need to do to beat Arsenal and Manchester to Premier League title
Liverpool manager Arne Slot has insisted that his side need to make the most of the big away games if they are to win the title this season. The Dutchman highlighted the importance of securing points in the away games against big clubs.
Slot has made an almost-perfect start to life at Anfield after taking over from Jurgen Klopp in the summer. The Reds have won 11 out of their first 12 games across competitions and sat at the top of the table before the ninth gameweek.
Ahead of his side's trip to Arsenal, Slot said, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano on X:
“To win this league, you need to win the difficult away games. We’re talking about Newcastle, Chelsea, City, Man United and Arsenal”.
Liverpool's clash against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday promises to be a fascinating game. With Manchester City winning 1-0 against Southampton on Saturday, October 26, the Cityzens have moved two points clear of the Reds at the top of the table.
