Former Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart has praised Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah for his professionalism amid the contract renewal impasse at Anfield. The Egyptian forward has entered the final six months of his deal with the Reds and is yet to sign an extension.

The 32-year-old revealed in November last year that he was yet to receive a renewal offer from the Merseyside club. Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher branded the player 'selfish' for those comments.

The situation has since changed and it is believed that the Reds have initiated contract talks regarding a new deal. However, Salah recently told Sky Sports that there has been no progress regarding a new contract.

Speaking on TNT Sports, as cited by Liverpool Echo, Hart praised the player for maintaining his standards on the pitch despite his contract situation.

“I’ve got a bit of a different view to everything that’s gone on. I’m seeing a player in the last six months of his contract, we’ve experienced that and there’s all sorts of things going on in your head – you’ve got to protect yourself," said Hart.

He continued:

“I’m seeing someone who represents his club to the max, represents his team, scores important goals, is carrying his team to an incredible season."

He concluded:

“They’re the facts we can deal with – everything else is speculation. He’s told us they’re a little bit away but that’s for the people above him, and that’s the business of the footballing world. The football side of things, he’s taken care of and been absolutely incredible.”

The Egyptian has registered 20 goals and 17 assists from 26 games across competitions this season for the Merseyside club.

Mohamed Salah arrived at Liverpool from AS Roma in the summer of 2017 in a reported £34.3 million deal. The Egyptian has been a key factor in the club's recent rise, first under Jurgen Klopp and this season under Arne Slot.

He has registered 231 goals and set up 105 more from 375 games across competitions for the Reds. He was instrumental in the Champions League triumph in 2019 and helped the Merseyside club win a historic Premier League title the following season. Mohamed Salah has won the FA Cup, the EFL Cup, the Community Shield, the UEFA Super Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup with Liverpool.
