Manchester United defender Leny Yoro has faced no problem with the inclement weather in Manchester, contrasting the sentiments shared by Cristiano Ronaldo during his first stint at the club in 2006. Yoro joined Manchester United just last summer.
The Red Devils signed the young defender for a reported fee of €62 million from Ligue 1 side Lille. He has, however, sat out the first half of the season after picking up an ankle injury in the pre-season. Since returning to fitness, he has featured in every Manchester United match under new head coach Ruben Amorim.
In a recent interview with Telefoot, Leny Yoro spoke about how he was adapting to life in England and dismissed the notion that the city's weather was an obstacle for him.
"Honestly, everything is going well. I’ve got everything I need. The team is welcoming, and there are other young players, which helps. The weather is similar to the north of France, so that’s not much of a change. The language is coming along; I’m starting to get used to speaking properly. I understand now, because the hardest part is sometimes understanding what they’re saying with the accent, but it’s going well," he said.
Back in 2006, a 21-year-old Ronaldo, who had moved from sunny Portugal to England, shared his thoughts on the challenges he faced adapting to the climate. Speaking to Sky Sports, he said back then:
"I like to play for Manchester - better than [I like] the weather. The weather is very difficult for me because you see snow, every time, and rain. It's difficult compared to Portugal, where you see sun every day, which is why it's difficult for me. But the club is massive, and I'm very happy for staying here."
Leny Yoro is among the two "untouchable" players at Manchester United - Reports
Manchester are keen to reinforce their squad during the ongoing transfer window while complying with profitability and sustainability rules (PSR). As such, they could part ways with some players.
A recent report from the Athletic even claimed that the club could listen to offers even for the likes of Kobbie Mainoo, Rasmus Hojlund, and Alejandro Garnacho. Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea are said to be interested in Mainoo while Paris Saint Germain and Atletico Madrid are showing interest in Garnacho.
Amongst all this, the club have identified two players as untouchable. According to the Daily Mail, Leny Yoro and Amad Diallo are indispensable to Manchester United's future plans. Diallo recently extended his contract at Old Trafford until 2030, while Yoro, who joined the club last summer, is contracted until 2029.
