Leny Yoro has insisted that he is eager to get on the pitch with Manchester United. The Red Devils reportedly saw off competition from Real Madrid to sign the French defender from Lille this summer
However, Yoro picked up an ankle injury during pre-season, required surgery, and has been sidelined ever since. The 18-year-old recently returned to first-team training, but the Premier League giants are likely to take a cautious approach.
However, Yoro claimed he is raring to get on the pitch and fight for Manchester United.
“Every time I come to the stadium to watch the matches, I just want to be on the pitch. It's getting closer. I want to be on the pitch with the guys and fight for Man United,” Yoro said via Fabrizio Romano.
A lot has changed since Yoro arrived at the Old Trafford at the start of the season. The Red Devils invested heavily in the squad over the summer, also bringing in Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui, Joshua Zirkzee, and Manuel Ugarte.
However, the optimism at the start of the campaign has fizzed out since. Manchester United are languishing at 13th place in the league after 10 games.
Erik ten Hag lost his job at the end of October and Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim has been appointed as his replacement. The Portuguese will take charge at Old Trafford on Monday, November 11, with Ruud van Nistelrooy currently serving as interim manager.
How has Ruud van Nistelrooy performed as Manchester United's interim manager?
Ruud van Nistelrooy has done a decent job since taking over at Manchester United as an interim manager following Erik ten Hag's exit. The former PSV Eindhoven boss, who joined Ten Hag's team this summer, enjoyed an impressive start to his tenure against Leicester City in the League Cup.
The Red Devils registered a 5-2 win over the Foxes and secured passage to the quarterfinals, where they will face Tottenham Hotspurs. Nistelrooy next hosted Chelsea at Old Trafford in the Premier League.
Manchester United took the lead in the game through Bruno Fernandes, but Moises Caicedo equalized for the visitors as the game ended 1-1. The Red Devils' third game under Nistelrooy came earlier this week, against PAOK in the Europa League at Old Trafford.
The Premier League giants registered a 2-0 win courtesy of an Amad Diallo brace. It was the club's first victory in Europe in over a year. The Dutchman is now preparing to face Leicester City again in the league on Sunday, November 10.
