Jamie Redknapp has urged Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold to join Carlo Ancelotti's Real Madrid. The English defender has been heavily linked with the Santiago Bernabeu outfit in recent times.
Real Madrid see Trent Alexander-Arnold as a long-term replacement for Spanish veteran Dani Carvajal, who suffered an ACL injury earlier this season. Additionally, the 25-year-old's current contract with the Reds expires in the summer of 2025.
Alexander-Arnold is close to entering the last six months of his contract with the Merseyside outfit. Talking about the situation, former English midfielder Jamie Redknapp stated that the 25-year-old should join Los Blancos for new opportunities and experiences. He said (via Madrid Universal):
"Alexander Arnold is a young player who has given everything for the club. He has won the Champions League, he has won the Premier League, he has won all the trophies. If he wants he can go and try a different culture, do something different, go and play."
Jamie Redknapp also backed his opinion by stating that joining Manchester United or Manchester City should not be an option for the Englishman because he has won everything in English top-tier football. He added:
"If you want to go to Manchester United and Manchester City, of course, for me that can't be done. Liverpool in my club, I was there for 11 years. But if I were in the locker room, I would turn around and say: 'I would love for you to sign', but you know what, good luck, because if there is a chance to go to Real Madrid, how can you reject it? He should take a risk and sign for Madrid."
Trent Alexander-Arnold has been with the Anfield outfit since 2004, joining their academy as a six-year-old. He made his senior debut for the side in 2016 and has since bagged 19 goals and 85 assists in 331 appearances for the side.
Liverpool interested in signing Real Madrid midfielder: Reports
Arne Slot's Liverpool are reportedly getting close to signing Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni in the upcoming summer transfer window, as per Spanish outlet Fichajes. The Frenchman joined the La Liga giants from Monaco in July 2022.
Since then, he has played 109 matches for Los Blancos, scoring three and assisting five goals across competitions. Aurelien Tchouameni has played as a defensive midfielder and also a central defender. However, he has failed to establish himself in Carlo Ancelotti's starting XI.
As per the aforementioned report, the Frenchman can leave the Santiago Bernabeu outfit soon. However, apart from Tchouameni, Liverpool are also interested in signing Real Sociedad's Martin Zubimendi, who decided to stay put at the LaLiga side last summer.
