Manchester City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne has heaped praise on his teammate Erling Haaland following his goalscoring exploits in their recent Premier League thrashing of West Ham United. The Norwegian ace struck twice in the game as the champions crushed the Hammers 4-1 at home.

The Norwegian first connected well to a perfectly weighted pass from Savio to head it home and double their advantage. But his second was a real beauty. Savio laid a defense splitting through ball that Haaland pranced forward to latch onto. He took a touch, and with two players looking to close him down, the striker kept his cool to make a cheeky lob over the goalkeeper for 3-0.

It's been a season full of ups and downs for the City hitman, who even missed a penalty in their 1-1 draw to Everton the week before. But his latest brace once again highlighted his capabilities—a devastating threat he is when presented with chances.

De Bruyne held the star in high regard after the match. Speaking to BBC Sport, he said (via TBR Football):

"He will always score goals. If we create chances, he will score goals and even with the bad period at 20 goals at this stage of the season is exceptional.”

Haaland's latest heroics come days after Pep Guardiola had insisted that his side needed to use him better, and it looked like they had found the trick again. Despite his struggles, Haaland has 16 goals in the Premier League this season, more than anyone in the division besides Liverpool ace Mohamed Salah (17).

Manchester City slowly kicking back into gear

Following a period of turmoil, Manchester City look to be getting back into gear lately. They've won their last two games, beating Leicester City and West Ham, with Erling Haaland scoring in both.

With another three winnable games - Salford City, Brentford and Ipswich Town - coming up, the Sky Blues could add more momentum under their belt right before the all-important Champions League fixture against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) on January 22.

Many of their key players are returning to form at the right time, while Savio is enjoying a period of revelation in the team. It's all finally coming together for the beleaguered City, but only time will tell how long this will last.
