Liverpool's promising midfielder, Tyler Morton, has expressed his admiration for new manager Arne Slot's style of play, highlighting the positive impact it has already had on the team.
Arne Slot took over the managerial reins at the Merseyside club after Jurgen Klopp stepped down from his position earlier this summer. So far, the team results under his management in pre-season have been music to the ears of the fans.
Morton, meanwhile, just returned from his loan spell from Hull City last season. He came on as a substitute in Liverpool's victory against Real Betis and Arsenal in their preseason tour. The English midfielder believes that Arne Slot's football style is a step in the right direction for the Reds.
Expressing his love for Arne Slot's strategy, he said, according to Liverpool Echo:
“It was brilliant to watch, I think the team did very well. The style the gaffer is implementing is working and I think it worked today. You can see it’s starting to click already and that’s a big compliment to the management team.
"I think the players out there today were brilliant, a lot of standout players. I think it’s going to improve quickly and I think it was a very good step in a good direction."
Speaking further about Slot's style of play, Morton added:
“He loves Total Football. He’s come in and it’s a style a lot of players love. If you don’t love the style he plays, you shouldn’t be a footballer really! It’s Total Football and it’s every midfielder’s dream.
"You could see it today in the triangles that were played; he’s big on triangles and they were [working] today. I thought it was brilliant, I thought we dominated and against a very good Arsenal side it was a great display.”
Tyler Morton will be eager to make his first Premier League appearance since the 2021-2022 season, where he had only two appearances.
Fabio Carvalho reveals the style Arne Slot wants to implement at Liverpool
Following Liverpool's 2-1 victory against Arsenal in the second game of their preseason tour on July 31, Fabio Carvalho outlined the team's new identity under Arne Slot. The Portugal international was really impressive in the match against the Gunners, as he scored the goal that gave the Reds victory.
The 21-year-old opined that Slot's strategy will be more reliant on the midfield than Klopp's. He said, as quoted by GOAL (via Liverpoolfc.com):
"I’d probably say playing more through the midfield. Players like Curtis, Harvey, and Szobo as well—we've got the players to do so. Playing through them and getting me, Mo, and the players higher up like Jots on the ball as well.
"Being able to play through the thirds is what we want to do and what the manager wants to be our identity. He wants me to obviously do the defensive stuff first. He knows what qualities I have. It’s good to have someone that’s always onto me, making sure I’m on it, and that’s what I’ve got from the gaffer."
The attacking midfielder will be looking to break into Liverpool's starting XI this season after his loan spells with RB Leipzig and Hull City last season.
