Owen Hargreaves has claimed that Mikel Arteta's Arsenal are required to sign three or four experienced players if they want to challenge Liverpool for the Premier League title. The Reds are currently at the top of the league table with 42 points in 17 matches, seven points clear of Chelsea with a game in hand.

On Thursday, Liverpool recorded a 3-1 comeback victory over Leicester City while Enzo Maresca's side came up short against Fulham 2-1. After the match, the former Bayern Munich midfielder stated that the Reds have a more balanced team as compared to Arsenal or Chelsea.

Hargreaves also emphasized the importance of having a mix of experienced and young players on the line-up. He also suggested the Gunners sign three or four experienced players to anchor the team. Owen Hargreaves said (via Metro UK):

"The biggest thing for me is the reason Arsenal or Chelsea won't win it, they don't have any experience like Liverpool. Alisson, (Virgil) van Dijk, Trent (Alexander-Arnold), Andy (Robertson), (Mohamed) Salah, you've got five guys who have been there and done it for years."

He further added:

"Arsenal, I'm amazed they haven't addressed that, they're this close but they need three or four of those guys in their team. If they get them they'll win the league, I really believe that. Mo (Micheal Owen) is right, Chelsea are too young but maybe in two years' time, they will be there."

The Reds will play their last match of the year against West Ham United on Sunday, December 29. Meanwhile, Mikel Arteta's men will face Ipswich Town on Friday, December 27, in their last game of 2024.

Liverpool and Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Bayern Munich defender Alphonso Davies in the transfer window next summer, according to TBR Football. The Canadian footballer's current contract with Bayern will expire next summer and he has been heavily linked with Carlo Ancelotti's Real Madrid.

Multiple reports claimed that the 24-year-old could potentially sign a new contract with the Bundesliga giants. However, neither the club nor the player has materialized this. As a result, top Premier League sides such as Liverpool, Arsenal, and Chelsea have joined the race to sign the Canadian defender.

The Reds see Alphonso Davies as a long-term replacement for Scotsman Andrew Robertson, aged 30. Meanwhile, the Gunners aim to sign Davies as an upgrade for Ukrainian defender Oleksandr Zinchenko.
