Aston Villa forward Jhon Duran has come under criticism from journalists and has been urged to 'stop believing he's Cristiano Ronaldo' after his recent comments to the press. The Colombian has been impressive for Unai Emery's side this season, scoring eight goals in 17 appearances across competitions.

After Colombia's recent loss to Ecuador during the international break, Duran told Caracol Radio:

“And why aren’t you a coach? From the outside you can see the spaces and talk a lot. We have to go in and play, to see how things are.”

Duran's comments were not well received, and he was blasted by South American journalists, with Ivan Mejia claiming via Sport Witness:

“If he behaves this rude without winning anything, the aggrandisement is going to crash him. In England his teammates can’t stand him.”

Another journalist, Adolfo Perez, blasted the Colombian, saying:

“There’s still time for someone to tell Durán to stop believing he’s Cristiano Ronaldo. If they keep telling him that his attitude inside and outside is fine because it’s rebellion, he’s not going to grow, he’s a long way from being what he’s supposed to be.”

Juan Felipe Cadavid from Caracol Radio, where he made his initial comments, said:

“He needs good advice from those close to him, less pandering and applause for everything he does and more words that help him grow.”

“I do think Cristiano Ronaldo would love to return" - Luis Saha tips five-time Ballon d'Or winner to make Premier League return.

Former Premier League striker Louis Saha has tapped Cristiano Ronaldo to return to Manchester United following Ruben Amorim's appointment. The Portuguese superstar enjoys a friendly relationship with the new Red Devils head coach, whom he previously played alongside for the national team.

Ronaldo's second stint at Old Trafford came to an acrimonious end in the winter of 2022 after a blockbuster interview with British TV personality Piers Morgan. His comments saw his contract terminated as the United legend moved to Saudi Pro-league outfit Al-Nassr in January.

However, former Manchester United striker Saha believes Ronaldo could make a return to the division. The Frenchman told BetFred:

“I do think Cristiano Ronaldo would love to return to the club in a role where he’s respected. He left the club on somewhat bad terms, so the club’s hierarchy may not want it to happen, but the players and the fans understood what he was trying to say. People can’t say that what he was saying was wrong."
“Cristiano does have a connection with Ruben Amorim, but I don’t believe he would sign him purely because he’s his friend. He wouldn’t sign him just to please him, he would only do it if he believes Cristiano can help. If there was an opportunity to come back, I’m sure Cristiano would love to return and help the club because he will love the challenge. If he has the chance, he will come,” Saha added.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Louis Saha shared the pitch 94 times across competitions for Manchester United, managing seven joint goal contributions.
