Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta believes his side must be consistent to give themselves a chance of beating Liverpool to the Premier League title. However, it isn't going to be easy for the Gunners to catch the Reds after the latter's performances this campaign.

Liverpool are currently at the top of the standings, six points clear of the north Londoners with a game in hand. When asked about his plans of catching Liverpool ahead of Arsenal's Premier League match against Brighton on January 4, Arteta said (via Tribal Football):

"We have to show the same level of consistency, and more. In the last year, we have been the best team in the league, broken records, and we still haven't won a trophy."

Arsenal have indeed been one of the best teams in the Premier League for the past couple of seasons but haven't managed to cross the line under Arteta. Last season, they finished second in the standings and only two points behind eventual champions Manchester City.

In the 2022-23 season, the Gunners led the title race for a staggering 248 days only to lose to Pep Guardiola's team once again by five points.

For now, Arteta and company will be focused on getting the job done against the Seagulls without key players like Ben White and Bukayo Saka. They enter this weekend's fixture on the back of four consecutive wins across competitions.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta seems confident that his current crop of strikers are good enough to beat Liverpool to the title. The comments have come after Gabriel Jesus found his shooting boots in recent weeks. The Brazilian has scored six goals in his last four appearances across competitions for the Gunners.

When asked about the need for a striker, Arteta said (via The Echo):

"Signing somebody is not enough, that is for sure. That signing has to score then how many goals? A lot of things have to happen. Sign, and then score 20 goals from here until the end. And then you have a better chance? Maybe, yes, I don't know."
"But I am very happy with the players we have and when you look at the amount of goals that we have scored, too, it is more than enough to win the Premier League," he added.

Arsenal also have the option of turning to Kai Havertz who looks comfortable in the number nine position. If Jesus' form persists, Arteta could drop Havertz into a midfield role.
