Phil Foden and Harry Kane have led England's attack, albeit unsuccessfully, in all of their group-stage matches at EURO 2024. However, the duo have not clicked together and managed just one goal between them.

A surprising stat has now emerged from OptaJoe that shows how disjointed England have been upfront. Foden has surprisingly passed the ball just once to Kane while passing goalkeeper Jordan Pickford on three occasions in the three games.

Gareth Southgate's side have struggled for goals in EURO 2024 so far, managing to score just twice in the three matches so far. Jude Bellingham scored the only goal in their 1-0 win over Serbia, while Harry Kane found the back of the net in the 1-1 draw to Denmark.

Harry Kane confident about England despite poor group stage

Harry Kane has admitted that England players need a lot of positional discipline entering into the EURO 2024 knockouts. However, he was confident of turning things around. He said:

“I think from all of us maybe a little bit more positional discipline [is needed]. When we look back at the games maybe there are times where we were a bit too deep. Not just us, certainly over the pitch where we had too many numbers behind their press or block. We found it very hard then to progress up the pitch. When we play more with each other it will get better and we will have more understanding. So maybe a bit more discipline in our positional play."

He added:

"We all went to get on the ball and make a difference which is great, we are all players who love getting it in those positions but we also need to be threat going forward which we haven’t been compared to our usual selves. It’s something we will work on and see if we can improve but I don’t think there’s an issue with us three players playing with each other. The seasons we all had speak for themselves and there’s no reason why we can’t start ramping it up on the pitch and getting to a level we know we can.”

England have qualified for the Round of 16 and will face one of the third-placed sides from Group D, E and F.
