Fans have jokingly questioned whether Luis Suarez is a vampire after he appeared to try and bite Colombia's Miguel Borja after Uruguay's Copa America elimination. La Celeste were sent packing in the semifinals after a 1-0 defeat on Wednesday night (July 11) in a hostile affair at the Bank of America Stadium in North Carolina.

Suarez was unsurprisingly involved as tensions boiled over after the game. The legendary striker has a history of bite-related incidents, and one appears to have ensued once again.

The 37-year-old was embroiled in a tussle with Colombia striker Miguel Borja. A video seemingly shows the former Barcelona and Liverpool frontman trying to leave his gnashers on the River Plate man.

Colombia's win was courtesy of Jefferson Lerma's 39th-minute header, but ugly post-match scenes marred the victory. Daniel Munoz (45+1') and Guillermo Varela (90+8') both saw red for either side during a heated battle in the United States.

However, Luis Suarez's latest biting saga has become one of the biggest talking points of Uruguay's exit. Chelsea legend Branislav Ivanovic and Italy icon Giorgio Chiellini know all too well about the prolific forward's bite.

One fan on X (formerly Twitter) asked whether fans should start calling him Count Suarez:

"Is he a vampire or something why he always trying bite people."

Another fan on X laughed:

"He still hasn't learned!"

One fan suggested Suarez has issues:

"Some things never change. Man's got issues!"

Another fan also mocked the situation:

"Can't teach new tricks to old DOG."

One fan made a biting joke:

"You can take the bite out of Suarez, but you can't take Suarez out of Suarez."

Luis Suarez voiced his and Uruguay's regrets after Colombia knocked them out of Copa America. The Inter Miami forward hinted that he'd be continuing his international career despite the setback, writing on X:

"It is difficult to accept defeat, it hurts to lose and even more so with the hope we had, but we are left with the peace of mind that we gave our best. Now is where we have to show strength as a group and continue working with the same humility. Let's always go (Uruguay)!"

Luis Suarez has been one of Uruguayan football's most iconic players since debuting in February 2007 at the age of 20. He's posted 68 goals and 39 assists in 141 caps but hasn't been on the scoresheet at this summer's Copa America. He won the competition in 2011 and was named the Player of the Tournament.

La Celeste and their captain can end the tournament on a high on Sunday night (July 14). They return to the Bank of America Stadium to face Canada in a match for third place.
