Noni Madueke has revealed that Chelsea players were stunned at Cole Palmer's stunning performance in the EURO 2024 final. He claims that their group chat went crazy after the Englishman scored.
Madueke said on talkSPORT that he has a special connection with Palmer. He claimed that the whole group was excited to see him doing well off the bench for England, saying:
"When Cole scored in the Euros final, everyone in the group chat was like, 'Oh my God, look at what CP just did!' It was crazy, we were so proud of him, he did so well. Not just in the final, the little cameos before he was making an impact."
He added:
"Me and Cole [Palmer] have been playing together for probably eight years now. We have a great relationship off the pitch as well. On the pitch, we really know each other's games. It's easy to play with someone like that. We have a good chemistry."
Cole Palmer was never named in the started XI by Gareth Southgate at the EURO 2024. He still managed to impress at every opportunity and even managed to score in the final. However, they lost 2-1 against Spain.
Cole Palmer and Noni Madueke linked up well for Chelsea
Cole Palmer and Noni Madueke combined for three goals in the 6-2 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers for Chelsea in the Premier League on August 25. The winger scored a hattrick in the match and all three goals were assisted by the former Manchester City star.
About their connection on the pitch, Madueke said via Tribuna:
"The first one was a bit lucky. The second one was all Cole Palmer, two brilliant passes, with the weight of the pass I just had to step onto the ball and score. I'm made up for the hattrick but more made up we won the game."
He added:
"It is unbelievable. He is cold and I am fire so it mixes well. He has the ability to always play a pass at the right time. I like to get the ball in space, beat people and make things happen, so luckily today it worked."
The two players have been in fine form this season but Chelsea have managed to pick up just four points from their opening three matches in the league.
