Ruben Amorim has reacted to a question about dropping Marcus Rashford from Manchester United's matchday squad against Bournemouth on Sunday (December 22). The England international has now failed to make the squad for the third consecutive game across competitions.

Many consider that Rashford's attitude and training performances have led to these decisions. When asked about the reasons behind excluding the Red Devils' academy product for the league match against the Cherries, Amorim told Sky Sports (via Fabrizio Romano on X):

“Rashford out again? It is my decision, and it always will be”.
“I want to see the best of my players, and then I try different things with different players, so that is my focus."

With the emergence of youngster Amad Diallo, some Manchester United fans may not be missing Rashford. He didn't have a great start to the 2024/25 campaign under former coach Erik ten Hag either, bagging four Premier League goals in 15 outings.

There is talk about the 27-year-old's future at Old Trafford after he publicly announced that he was ready for a new challenge. At the moment, Rashford is contracted with his current employers till the summer of 2028.

He came up the ranks at Manchester United and has gone on to make 426 senior appearances for the club, netting 138 goals and assisting 63 times. Rashford has won the Europa League once and the FA Cup twice, among other honors at Old Trafford.

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher believes that Arsenal shouldn't sign Marcus Rashford. The Manchester United winger has been linked with a move away after seemingly being surplus to requirements at Old Trafford.

Mikel Arteta's side have since been rumored to want the attacker along with other Saudi Pro League sides. Drawing a comparison to other Premier League greats and responding to Gary Neville's query, Carragher told Sky Bet (via Football London):

"Rashford? No."
"Oh my god, he had a four-month spell under Erik ten Hag when United were on fire. He’s been a very good player for United and a very good Premier League player, but he’s not [Mohamed] Salah, [Sadio] Mane or [Bukayo] Saka."

While the Gunners are looking to strengthen in the left wing position, they still have fairly reliable wingers in Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli at the club. Moreover, for Rashford himself, a move to the Emirates may seem unlikely with no guaranteed game time.
