Two of the league's highest-profile but under-pressure managers came up against each other in the Manchester derby on Sunday. Pep Guardiola's pressure stemmed from the fact that his side had lost seven and won one of their last games across all competitions. For Amorim, his Red Devils had lost two in as many league games, and he was under pressure to deliver a favorable result.

Manchester United ground out a result after two late goals, claiming a 2-1 win over the reigning league champions. Amorim answered questions from the media afterward, revealing that it was a magical result from his team. He also commented on the time their opposition scored, relating it to the Ferguson era.

“It was incredible. It was Fergie time, I believe in it… something magic happened”.
“I think we deserved it. It was very tough match but we believe until the end. We managed to score, we needed that win, it was important for us and for our fans”.

Manchester United did not enjoy plain sailing throughout the game, seeing as they lost midfielder Mason Mount to injury after just 11 minutes. Amorim had also previously made the bold choice of leaving out Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho for the game at the Etihad.

Amad Diallo leads Manchester United to three points in derby win

Manchester United had wing-back Amad Diallo to thank as they came from a goal down to win 2-1 to defeat Manchester City at the Etihad. The Red Devils needed two goals from the 88th minute onward to get all three points.

Josko Gvardiol headed home after a short corner routine for the Cityzens after 36 minutes on Sunday. Both sides threatened, but neither could score the next goal until 88 minutes into the game.

With two minutes left and City in game management mode, Matheus Nunes sold Ederson short with a poor backpass which Amad Diallo picked up. The Portuguese midfielder then fouled Diallo, conceding a penalty, which Bruno Fernandes converted for his side. Less than two minutes later, Diallo got on the end of an exquisite ball from Lisandro Martinez before scoring to seal the win for Amorim's men.
