Manchester United defender Leny Yoro has opened up about settling into life at his new club following a summer move from Lille in 2024. The French defender was signed by the Red Devils for a reported fee of £52 million.
The 18-year-old has said that he's had a rather smooth transition to life in Manchester. With the support of his cousin and girlfriend, who've moved with him to England, Yoro seems to have settled in well.
Things have been fairly turbulent on the pitch for the former Ligue 1 star, who suffered injury in his early weeks at Manchester United. Yoro missed the start of the Premier League campaign with an ankle problem, which kept him out for about three months.
Opening up about the differences between life in England as opposed to France, the defender said (via @UtdDistrict):
"It's perfect. I got my home, my car, everything, so yeah I'm good. It's a bit bigger than Lille but the weather is the same so it doesn't change too much. My family is still in Lille. My girlfriend came with me, and my cousin."
Yoro has yet to make a first-team appearance for his current employers this campaign. When asked about the centre-back's potential return date, interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy said (via Metro):
"We’re going to get him back partially over the coming weeks and look to get him on board as quickly as possible."
It is unlikely that Yoro will be fit to play Manchester United's upcoming Premier League match against Leicester City on Sunday (November 10).
Manchester United boss Ruud van Nistelrooy provides Kobbie Mainoo injury update ahead of Leicester clash
Another player who is currently sidelined with injury is Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo. The 19-year-old hasn't featured since the Red Devils' 0-0 Premier League draw with Aston Villa on October 6.
It is believed that the youngster picked up a muscle problem that ruled him out of action for a few weeks. Claiming that Mainoo will need longer time to recover, Van Nistelrooy said (via United in Focus):
"And Kobbie is also progressing with his injury. He isn’t yet with the team, though. He needs more time.”
Mainoo became an integral part of Erik ten Hag's team after enjoying a breakthrough season in the 2023/24 campaign, where he made 24 league appearances. Manuel Ugarte and experienced star Casemiro have been preferred in deeper midfielder roles during Mainoo's absence from the first team.
