Cristiano Ronaldo recently discussed his contract situation with Al Nassr, saying he and his family were happy in the country. His comments hinted that he could possibly extend his stay with the Saudi Pro League club.
Ronaldo's current contract with Al Nassr expires in June 2025, meaning he has entered the last six months of his deal with the club. While there are no solid reports about a contract extension, his latest comments will make the club's fans optimistic.
While in conversation with the Saudi Pro League’s official media channels, Ronaldo noted (via Hindustan Times):
"I’m happy and my family is happy. We started a new life in this beautiful country. Life is good, football is good. In terms of individual and collective, we are still there. We are still improving."
"It’s hard to compete with teams like Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad, but we are still there, still pushing and fighting. Football is like that; you have good moments and bad moments. But, for me, the most important thing is to be professional, to push hard, respect the club, respect your contract and believe that things will change – for Al Nassr to try to win more titles," he added.
Al Nassr are currently fourth in the Saudi Pro League table with 25 points in 13 games, 11 points short of league leaders Al Ittihad.
Cristiano Ronaldo on AFC Champions League aspirations with Al Nassr
During the same discussion, Cristiano Ronaldo talked about his aspirations of winning the AFC Champions League with Al Nassr.
“The [AFC] Champions League is something I want to win for the club. But the most important is to keep pushing and be professional,” he said.
Ronaldo has been in fine form for Al Nassr over the last couple of years. In all, he has scored 74 goals and provided 18 assists in 83 appearances across competitions.
This season, the Portuguese talisman has netted 16 goals and provided three assists in 19 matches for Al Nassr.
Notably, Cristiano Ronaldo is yet to win silverware in over two years with Al Nassr. He joined the Saudi club in December 2022 following the termination of his contract with Manchester United.
