Indian singer Arijit Singh was left surprised after midfielder Mason Mount sent him a Manchester United shirt. The Englishman gifted him a signed jersey ahead of his concert and the video has gone viral on social media.
Arijit was on a tour of the UK earlier this month. While the former Chelsea midfielder was not present to hand the jersey in person, as he was in Manchester recovering from his injury, he ensured the gift reached the Indian singer.
The concert, which took place on September 15, saw Arijit give his fans a surprise as well. The Indian singer brought Ed Sheeran onto the stage, and the two sang 'Perfect' together.
Manchester United fans will also hope Mount makes a surprise return to the squad soon as they drew 1-1 to FC Twente in the Europa League on Wednesday, September 25. The Englishman picked up a muscle injury in August and has been out since.
He released a statement following the setback which read:
“During the last game I picked up a minor muscle issue. I've had it checked and it looks like I'll be out for a few games. Leading up to and during pre-season, I worked hard to get my fitness back to where it needs to be and I felt re-energised, sharp and ready. I wanted you to hear it directly from me how frustrated I am, as I expect you are too. I will do everything possible to be back in the best shape and help the team.”
Mason Mount has played just 24 times for Manchester United since making his £60 million move from Chelsea last summer. He has scored just once for the Red Devils - in a dramatic 1-1 draw to Brentford.
Mason Mount sent warning by former Manchester United star
Louis Saha warned Mason Mount to improve his performance or risk losing his place in the Manchester United squad. The former striker claimed that the Englishman was not showing enough quality or courage on the pitch since making his return from injury last season. Saha said (via Tribuna):
"He was missing games through injury, but in some of the games he did play, he didn't show quality or courage, and his performances were not good enough."
He added:
"We're expecting much more, and I hope he can find a solution – other than a few glimpses in pre-season, I haven't seen any quality from him. It's concerning, and he has to accept that Manchester United need someone who creates way more chances for the forwards. Last season, Bruno Fernandes was the only person doing that consistently, and that's not what we need."
The Red Devils are currently 11th in the Premier League table with two wins and as many losses in their first five matches of the season.
