Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has predicted where his former club, Arsenal, Manchester City, and other top clubs will finish in the Premier League this season. Speaking to Sky Bet, Carragher has backed Manchester City to retain their status as English champions.
Pep Guardiola's side have won back-to-back four Premier League titles and Carragher sees City win yet another this term. Apart from that, he has predicted Arsenal to finish second, just as they have done in the last two campaigns.
Mikel Arteta's team have come agonizingly close to becoming English champions in the last two seasons. However, on both occasions, they have been bested by City, who have looked almost mechanical in their flawless nature.
Carragher also predicted that Liverpool will finish third, which they also did during the 2023-24 season. The Reds are set to start a new era under Arne Slot following Jurgen Klopp's departure.
Tottenham Hotspur, who finished fifth last season, have been tipped to better their position by a spot. Ange Postecoglou's side faded after a strong start to their campaign last term.
Erik ten Hag's Manchester United finished eighth last season, the club's worst standing of the EPL era. Carragher, though, has backed the Red Devils to finish fifth this term.
On the other hand, he thinks Unai Emery's Aston Villa will finish sixth. Villa finished fourth last season, securing Champions League football for the 2024-25 campaign. However, one of their best players last season, Douglas Luiz, has since left the club. Ollie Watkins' form could also turn out to be a decisive factor in Villa's performances this season.
Arsenal, Manchester City, and Liverpool's notable summer signings
Arsenal have done business in the transfer market, bringing in Italy's Euro 2024 star Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna. They have signed the Italian in a deal worth €45 million to bolster their defense.
Manchester City, meanwhile, have brought in Savinho, who scored in the FA Community Shield penalty shootout against Manchester United. The winger is their only incoming summer business so far.
Liverpool are yet to bring in any player this summer. They have parted ways with Joel Matip, Thiago, Adrian, and others. The club have been linked with a move for Real Sociedad ace Martin Zubimendi.
All three clubs already boast complete squads that even top teams would envy. Any further improvements would further steel their ranks, although, their could be some big names departures in the card. Julian Alvarez is especially one player linked with a move away from Manchester City.
