Commentator Jamie Carragher mocked former Manchester United defender Gary Neville after he expressed his doubt over the club's players and manager. The former Liverpool defender sent a short reply to Sky Sports' post on X where Neville questioned the players.
Manchester United suffered their third loss of the season and second at home at the weekend. Ange Postecoglou's Tottenham Hotspur handed the Red Devils a 3-0 drubbing at Old Trafford in a one-sided match that saw Bruno Fernandes sent off in the first half.
Goals from Brennan Johnson, Dejan Kulusevski, and Dominic Solanke handed Spurs the win and heaped further pressure on Ten Hag. Neville was brutal in his assessment of the United players after the club's loss against Spurs.
Speaking on Sky Sports after a 3-0 loss at Old Trafford, he questioned the players' attitude and claimed that they didn't have belief in their manager's plans.
"Are the players not buying into what Erik ten Hag is telling them to do? Or did they not believe in it?" questioned Neville.
"The application of the players doing it [following Ten Hag's instructions] was abysmal," he added.
He spoke about Christian Eriksen's comments about his teammates' lack of motivation and attitude in their 1-1 draw to FC Twente in their Europa League season opener.
After Sky Sports' post on X, Carragher quickly reminded his colleague of his prediction at the start of the season. He replied via his X account:
"You put them third at the start of the season!!"
The banter between Carragher and Neville has been seen plenty of times on Sky Sports where the former club rivals and international teammates work.
Carragher's and Neville's predictions on where Manchester United would finish at the end of the season
Ahead of the start of the season, Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher indulged in a verbal battle regarding their predictions over where their former sides would finish in May 2025.
Neville had picked Man United to finish in the top four positions at Liverpool's expense while Carragher had predicted the exact opposite to happen.
"Liverpool have got a better team than Manchester United. I think United have got more in midfield, more depth, they've got good players in there," claimed Neville.

Liverpool are currently in the top spot after six gameweeks with Manchester City, Arsenal, and Chelsea completing the top four positions. Manchester United are already seven points behind third spot, where Neville had predicted them to finish.
