After Sergio Ramos' decision to depart Sevilla as a free agent this June, fans have claimed that the centre-back should reunite with either Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi.
On Monday (June 17), acclaimed transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that Ramos is set to leave Sevilla at the end of his deal on June 30. The 38-year-old is likely to decide on his immediate future soon.
Following the announcement, a football fan shared his opinion on X:
"Finally going to join Ronaldo at [Al-Nassr]"
Another fan suggested that Ramos should move to the United States:
"Time for Inter Miami with Messi"
Here's how other football fans reacted Ramos' latest contract decision:
Ramos, who made 671 appearances for Real Madrid between 2005 and 2021, left Paris Saint-Germain and joined Sevilla on a free switch last September. He helped his boyhood team register eight shutouts in 37 matches last season, scoring seven times along the way.
Earlier in his career, Ramos played alongside Ronaldo at Real Madrid, winning 16 trophies together between 2009 and 2018. He shared the pitch with the attacker a whopping 340 times at the La Liga giants.
Meanwhile, Ramos teamed up with Messi during his two-year stint at the Parisians between 2021 and 2023. The right-footed defender played alongside the Argentine 45 times at the current Ligue 1 champions.
Czech Republic defender David Zima picks between Cristiano Ronaldo & Lionel Messi
After his national teammate Mojmir Chytil chose Lionel Messi as the best footballer of all time, Czech Republic star David Zima offered a differing opinion at a presser. He said (h/t Sports Brief):
"Cristiano Ronaldo is the best player in the world, and he still is today."
The 23-year-old Slavia Prague ace opined on facing Portugal soon:
"We believe in ourselves. We really want to win the match, although a draw would also be a good result."
Czech Republic are set to face Portugal in their Group F opener at the UEFA Euro 2024 in Leipzig, Germany next Tuesday (June 18). They will later take on Georgia and Turkey in group-stage clashes later on.
Ronaldo, meanwhile, is aiming to guide his national team to their second Euro win next month. The 39-year-old relished a great season at Al-Nassr, scoring 44 goals and providing 13 assists in 45 total games.
So far, the Portugal captain has found the back of the net 14 times and registered nine assists in 25 Euro appearances for his national team.
