Mohamed Salah has featured in former Manchester United and Liverpool striker Michael Owen's Premier League team of the season so far. Taking to his official X handle, the legendary England centre-forward picked a few surprising names in his list, including Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

Some of the expected names on Owen's list were Chelsea attacking midfielder Cole Palmer and Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah. The two players have been in excellent form this season, with the former netting 12 goals and bagging six assists in 19 games in the league. Salah, meanwhile, has scored 17 goals and picked up 13 assists from 18 games this Premier League campaign.

Goalkeeper Pickford was one of the unexpected names on this list, given that Everton have conceded a whopping 24 goals in the league this season. However, Owen may have been convinced by Pickford's abilities in one-on-one situations. The latter has saved two penalties this season, including one against Erling Haaland of Manchester City on Boxing Day.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, William Saliba, and Antonee Robinson make up Owen's back four. Moises Caicedo and Ryan Gravenberch are tasked to play as the defensive midfielders in this side. Along with Salah and Palmer, Wolves' Matheus Cunha finds himself as an attacker in Owen's team.

Cunha has been one of the revelations this season, having scored 10 goals and bagged four assists in the 19 Premier League matches he has played so far.

Mohamed Salah will assist Nottingham Forest's Chris Wood in Michael Owen's side

Nottingham Forest's Chris Wood features as the sole striker in this team. He would be assisted by Mohamed Salah in the attacking department. Wood has been in fine form in the league this season, bagging 11 goals and one assist in the 19 matches he has played.

His contribution has been vital to Forest's growth. The club find themselves in the third position on the league table at the moment with 37 points to their name from 19 games. Salah, who will play on the right-hand side of this team's attack, comes to the end of his current contract with Liverpool this summer.

Meanwhile, there have been talks of the Reds offering him an extension. However, the Egyptian does not want to be distracted by contract talks. His most recent exploits came against West Ham United in Liverpool's 5-0 win over them on Sunday (December 29). Salah scored a goal and picked up two assists in the game.
