Journalist provides discouraging update on Liverpool's reported interest in Victor Osimhen and Jamal Musiala

Liverpool are unlikely to pull off respective deals to sign Victor Osimhen and Jamal Musiala, according to famed GOAL journalist Neil Jones.

Earlier this weekend, Italian journalist Valter De Maggio reportedly claimed that the Reds have reached an agreement with Osimhen ahead of a potential transfer. But, Jones has stated that there are major doubts about any reported deal.

He wrote in his Caught Offside column:

"Osimhen has been linked with Liverpool in recent weeks, but I would be very sceptical about this deal. The Napoli striker is clearly a superb player, but reports that a deal has already been agreed with the Reds are wide of the mark, and I'd be surprised if he was to end up at Anfield. The Reds are not in the market for a No. 9."

Highlighting Liverpool's depth in the number nine role, Jones added:

"They have Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota and Cody Gakpo to play the position at the moment, and all three of those players have the full faith of Jurgen Klopp. All are 26 or under, and seen as long-term players. Nunez's development, in particular, has been a big positive this season.
"The Uruguayan has worked hard on the training ground, and looks far more in tune with what is required from him."

Meanwhile, Sport Bild reporter Christian Falk claimed that Jurgen Klopp's side are monitoring Musiala's contract situation at Bayern Munich earlier this month. Jones also decided to shed light on the links:

"I don't think there is a club in Europe who wouldn't like Jamal Musiala in their squad, and Liverpool are no different. But admiring a player and signing him are two different things, as evidenced by the Reds' failure to land Jude Bellingham. Musiala, I believe, is of a similar level to Bellingham, and would be very tough to sign."

Casting doubt on Bayern's chances of offloading Musiala, Jones wrote:

"His contract situation at Bayern Munich is one that will be monitored, but I would expect the Bavarians to go all-out in trying to keep him. He's the jewel in their crown, along with Harry Kane, and Bayern don't tend to lose such players without a fight."

Liverpool keen to sign Youssoufa Moukoko

According to Fichajes.net, Liverpool are interested in signing Youssoufa Moukoko in the future. They are set to face competition from the likes of Chelsea, Brentford and Wolverhampton Wanderers in the race to snap up the forward, whose current contract runs out in 2026.

Moukoko, 18, has made a name for himself as one of the most promising players in the world over the past two seasons. He has scored 13 goals and laid out eight assists in 78 matches for Borussia Dortmund.

A left-footed versatile attacker blessed with pace, flair and directness, the two-cap Germany international could prove to be a good rotational option for Liverpool. He could either play centrally or as a right winger.
