Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has given an update on the contract situation of Naby Keita. The Guinea midfielder's contract with the Anfield outfit is set to expire in June of 2023. Liverpool are looking to tie the player down to a longer contract to keep him at the club.
Klopp commented on the situation (via Fabrizio Romano):
"Naby’s future will be great. He's an amazing player. All the rest, I understand really that these questions about contracts are constantly happening but the club is in talks with all the agents of all the people."
The Guinea midfielder joined Liverpool in 2018 for £54 million. He endured a difficult start to life in Merseyside. Keita failed to usurp the likes of Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Fabinho for a starting berth in Klopp's side.
Many fans had dubbed him a flop following the huge sum of money Liverpool paid RB Leipzig for the player's services. However, the midfielder has been somewhat of an unsung hero for the Anfield side this season, scoring three goals in 23 appearances.
Will Liverpool be in the market for more midfield reinforcements?

Despite Klopp's obvious intention to have Keita remain at the club beyond his current deal, there still is a feeling that the side will look to sign more midfielders in the summer.
James Milner is now 36, Jordan Henderson has reached 31 and Fabinho and Thiago are both 30. These players are reaching the twilight of their careers and Klopp may look to ensure replacements are ready.
One name that has been touted and will excite Reds fans is Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham.
The Express reports that Klopp has been holding private conversations with the midfielder over a potential move to the Premier League giants.
The 19-year-old has been one of the Bundesliga's best midfielders and has shown a maturity beyond his years. Bellingham's most recent performances against Rangers in the Europa League won him many plaudits.
They have also been linked with Leeds midfielder Kalvin Phillips as per a Sports Illustrated report. The England international is in the process of changing agents, and his new agency can reportedly secure a transfer to Anfield.
The Sun reported back in December that Klopp was keeping tabs on Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz, with the Spaniard also keen on departing the Serie A side.
