Popular online personality Mark Goldbridge believes Harry Kane is England's Cristiano Ronaldo at Euro 2024. While this statement would typically be considered high praise, the legendary striker was remarkably underwhelming at the continental tournament in Germany.

The Real Madrid legend played four games without managing to bag a goal and arguably looked like an impediment to the Portuguese cause. While the Bayern Munich star has found the back of the net twice for England, he's also been disappointing for the Three Lions in the tournament.

Goldbridge, who often comments on football matches, shared his opinion on Kane's influence on the team, posting on X:

"Kane is our Ronaldo. If he doesn't score he's not actually that good for the way we want to play"

Cristiano Ronaldo and Harry Kane are two of the finest goalscorers in football history and are the top all-time goalscorers for Portugal and England respectively. The Portuguese legend has 130 goals and 45 assists from 212 appearances for his nation. Meanwhile, the Englishman has 65 goals and 19 assists from 96 appearances for his nation.

England remain at Euro 2024 where they continue to harbor hopes of lifting the trophy on July 14 and ending the 58-year wait for a trophy back home.

How Harry Kane and Cristiano Ronaldo have fared at Euro 2024

Cristiano Ronaldo and Harry Kane have had disappointing campaigns at Euro 2024, with the lethal duo looking far from their best for their respective countries. Both players are typically key for their teams but have been unable to replicate their fine form in this European Championship.

Ronaldo, who played at his final Euros for Portugal, could not tap into the lethal form that saw him score 759 goals and provide 238 assists in 1013 club games. He ended the tournament with a single assist to his name. He put in an arguably disappointing showing in A Selecao's quarter-final loss to France. He managed only 41 touches in 120 minutes as they lost on penalties.

Harry Kane, meanwhile, has fared slightly better for England, bagging two goals in the tournament. The Bayern Munich star was disappointing in the quarterfinal clash against Switzerland, having a shocking 27 touches of the ball in 109 minutes. The Three Lions, though, lumbered to a semi-final clash against the Netherlands in Dortmund on July 10 after beating the Swiss on penalties.

Both strikers will hope their poor showing at Euro 2024 does not follow them into the new season with their respective clubs in August.
