La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid have left the race to sign Barcelona midfielder Dani Olmo. According to Spanish outlet AS, Los Rojiblancos will not look to pursue the 26-year-old amidst his contractual situation with La Blaugrana.

As it stands, the midfielder is set to become a free agent with the Catalan giants being unable to register him. Barca roped him in the summer from RB Leipzig reportedly for £60 million. However, financial issues meant they were able to sign him only for the first half of the campaign.

With the club already over La Liga's allowed spending limit and being unable to find new sources of revenue, Olmo can now be picked up for free by any club.

Barcelona remain confident in finding a solution to the problem but the player has garnered interest across Europe. Reports claimed that Olmo's agent was in Manchester, with a move to the Premier League on the cards. He has been a key presence for the side this season, registering six goals and one assist in 15 games.

The report claims that Atletico Madrid are unwilling to enter the race for him as Diego Simeone already has multiple options in midfield. Further, the side reportedly spent well over €100 million in the summer, signing the likes of Julian Alvarez and Conor Gallagher.

Barcelona have expressed interest in signing Chelsea attacker Christopher Nkunku. According to TBR Football, the player, who has been linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), has also garnered interest from the Catalan giants.

The Frenchman is a clear second option to lead the line for the Blues behind Nicolas Jackson. He has made just three starts in the Premier League while mostly playing in the UEFA Conference League. He has made 27 appearances this season, collecting 12 goals and four assists.

Nkunku has been touted as Plan B for a Barcelona side that are facing trouble with the situation surrounding Dani Olmo. Should the club be unable to register him, the report claims that they could attempt a loan move in the winter transfer window for the 27-year-old. La Blaugrana are hopeful that Chelsea will cover a portion of his wages to facilitate the move as they look to fix their financial issues.

PSG are also seeking an attacker following the departure of Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid. Goncalo Ramos and Randal Kolo Muani have largely struggled and thus a return to the Parc des Princes has been touted for Nkunku.
