Lipreader Jeremy Freeman has confirmed that Declan Rice used X-rated words in a heated exchange with Slovakia coach Francesco Calzona following England's win. The pair were involved in a verbal exchange following the Round of 16 clash at the Veltins-Arena on June 30.
Speaking to Daily Mail, Freeman stated that Rice used 'c**t' and 'p***y' following the final whistle on Sunday. He alleged that the Arsenal star said:
"Shut up, p***y, oi, shut up, you bald c**t."
England managed to squeeze past Slovakia on the night with goals from Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane. The Real Madrid star's equalizer came in the final seconds of second-half injury time, while the Bayern Munich striker scored seconds after Extra Time started to seal a 2-1 win.
The Three Lions are now set to face Switzerland in the quarterfinals. Rice spoke to BBC Sport following the match and said England's players were ready to give it their all against the Swiss.
"We'll keep going and keep fighting and what we've got as a group tonight showed out there. It's an honour to be a part of it and we're going to give it everything," he said.
Gareth Southgate's side are unbeaten in EURO 2024, but have won just once in normal time.
Slovakia boss unhappy with England's tactics
Slovakia coach Francesco Calzona spoke to Sky Sports Italia after the loss to England and admitted that he was angry. He stated that the one minute of added time at the end of Extra Time was not ideal and claimed that Gareth Southgate's side had done a lot of time wasting after taking the lead.
“The lads worked so hard and followed what I asked of them to the letter. We allowed them a bit more in the second half, but that was to be expected against a team of this level. In extra time, it was one-way traffic, we pinned them back and they relied on time-wasting and obstructionism. I was angry because one extra minute of stoppages with the amount of time-wasting especially from their goalkeeper was not enough," he said.
Slovakia took the lead in the first half through Ivan Schranz (25'). David Strelec came close to scoring from half-way line in the second half, but his shot landed just wide of the target to the relief of Jordan Pickford, who was chasing frantically after it.
