Liverpool manager Arne Slot has provided a positive injury update on shot-stopper Alisson Becker ahead of his club's Premier League away clash at Wolverhampton Wanderers this Saturday (September 29).

Alisson, who has registered three clean sheets in five overall matches this season, missed the Reds' last two games owing to a muscle problem. He was replaced by Caoimhin Kelleher in the Reds' starting lineup.

At a pre-match press conference, Slot was asked whether Alisson will be available to play in Liverpool's league contest at Molineux Stadium this weekend. He replied (h/t Liverpool Echo):

"We think he is [okay to return,] We think he is available, we're really happy with Alisson being back but we did well in the two games without him... so another example of me having two or even three options in some positions."

In Alisson's absence, Kelleher proved to be a capable backup on two occasions for his team this season. He recorded 10 joint saves in the Reds' 3-0 home league win against Bournemouth last Saturday and a 5-1 EFL Cup win over West Ham United earlier this Wednesday.

Chris Sutton offers prediction for upcoming Wolverhampton Wanderers-Liverpool clash

In his column for BBC, ex-Chelsea forward Chris Sutton backed the Reds to defeat Wolves 2-1 in their upcoming league match. He wrote:

"Wolves have not been as bad as their results suggest but I suspect the fans' patience is wearing a bit thin with their manager, Gary O'Neil. That is slightly unfortunate, and unfair, because overall he did well last season, but the way Wolves ended the last campaign poorly and have started this one the same way does not help him, clearly."

Sutton, who represented Chelsea 39 times as a player, concluded:

"This game probably won't do much for his cause, either. It is hard to look past a Liverpool win, based on their firepower and their strength off the bench. They wiped the floor with Bournemouth last week and, while this will be closer, I still think Liverpool will win it."

The Merseyside outfit, who have lost just one league contest so far this campaign, have opened the ongoing 2023-24 season on a stellar note. They are on 12 points from five league matches, while Wolves are 20th in the table with one point in five league games so far.

Arne Slot's side have registered 11 wins, one draw, and one defeat in their past 13 meetings across competitions against Gary O'Neil's club.
