Liverpool have made an inquiry into the situation surrounding Barcelona midfielder Gavi. According to Catalan outlet Nacional, the Reds are looking to bring the 20-year-old to Anfield.
He seems to have fallen down the pecking order at Camp Nou under Hansi Flick. The German seems to prefer teenager Marc Casado and Pedri in the double pivot, leaving Gavi to be relegated to an option mostly used off the bench. He has made 12 appearances this season but has found just 241 minutes of action.
Thus, he has arisen as a possible transfer option for multiple clubs, including Liverpool. His contract is set to expire in the summer of 2026. With the report stating that there have not been talks between player and club over extending his stay, he could find an exit for relatively cheap.
Gavi is intent on staying at Barcelona, hoping to impress the manager and fight for his place. However, should he decide to depart, the Reds are keen on adding him to the squad. The report suggests that manager Arne Slot values him highly and the club could offer him a high salary to make him one of the most valued players.
The 20-year-old would join a talented midfield that contains the likes of Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister, and Curtis Jones.
Barcelona interested in Liverpool star but he is expected to stay and renew
Barcelona are keeping tabs on Liverpool winger Luis Diaz. According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, La Blaugrana are keen on adding the 27-year-old attacker to their ranks.
However, the Colombian is expected to stay at Anfield. His current contract with the club is until the summer of 2027 but the Reds are looking to sign him to an extension soon.
The contract situations of Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk are likely to be higher priorities for Liverpool as they are set to be free agents in the upcoming summer. Following this, they could look to tie the Colombian down who has been a vital part of Arne Slot's attack this season.
Diaz has been used both at left wing and up top, scoring nine goals and making three assists in 22 games across all competitions.
He could be a key addition to a Barcelona side that were pursuing Nico Williams to play at the left side of their attack. While Raphinha has proven to be a revelation under Hansi Flick there, the addition of another experienced attacker could be useful to the Blaugrana.
