Arne Slot's Liverpool have entered the race to sign Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah in the next summer transfer window, as per Mundo Deportivo. The German defender is already on the transfer radar of European giants such as Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.
As per the aforementioned report, the 28-year-old has made it clear to Bayer Leverkusen that he's not interested in signing a contract extension. His ongoing contract with the German champions will expire next summer and, as a result, he has become a transfer target for several clubs.
Carlo Ancelotti's Real Madrid are on the lookout to sign a central defender after David Alaba's injury struggles flared up. Additionally, former Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger would turn 32 before the start of the new season. Meanwhile, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has also coached Tah in the German national team, which can turn out to be a convincing factor.
Liverpool have become the latest club to enter the race. They're currently looking forward to signing Virgil van Dijk's replacement. The Dutchman's current contract with Liverpool will end in the summer of 2025.
Jonathan Tah joined Bayer Leverkusen in July 2015 from Hamburger SV. Since then, he has made 364 appearances for the senior team, bagging 12 goals and 15 assists across competitions. He also started four matches for Germany at the 2024 European Championships.
