A reporter has shared Liverpool fans' angry comments directed towards Trent Alexander-Arnold during their clash against Manchester United. The two sides played out a 2-2 draw at Anfield in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Red Devils opened the scoring in the 52nd minute through Lisandro Martinez before Cody Gakpo equalized seven minutes later. Mohamed Salah then made it 2-1 from the penalty spot in the 70th minute but Amad Diallo sealed a draw in the 80th minute. Manchester United also missed a gilt-edge chance in stoppage time to score a winner.

Trent Alexander-Arnold was heavily criticized for his performance on Sunday. He made four interceptions, and one block, was dribbled past twice, and won 0/5 duels. He also lost possession 27 times and none of his six attempted crosses were accurate.

The Englishman, who has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid, was subbed off in the 86th minute. He was reportedly subject to foul comments from some Liverpool fans during the game. As per journalist Lewis Steele (via Sport Bible), one fan said:

"If you don't wanna be here Trent, f*** off!"
"F**k off out of here," another fan said.

Alexander-Arnold has made 24 appearances for Liverpool across competitions this season, scoring one goal and providing five assists.

Arne Slot on whether transfer speculation affected Trent Alexander-Arnold's performance in Liverpool's draw against Manchester United

Trent Alexander-Arnold has been heavily linked with a move away from Liverpool. His contract expires in the summer and Real Madrid are heavily interested in signing him and are reportedly preparing a second bid in January. Many believe this speculation caused a drop in the Englishman's performance against Manchester United.

Arne Slot, however, has rubbished such claims, explaining (via Liverpoolfc.com):

"I don’t believe in those things. I think nine out of 10 people will tell you it affected him but I am one of the 10 that tells you I don’t think that affected him. What affected him was that he had to play Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot, who are two starters for Portugal. Great, great, great players. ... If these players set themselves to a game, and that is what United once in a while do, then it is very difficult to play against them.
"That is more difficult for Trent to play against Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot than the rumours there were during the week. That’s my opinion and probably everybody will tell you it had to do with the rumours. My opinion is different."

Alexander-Arnold came through Liverpool's ranks and has made 334 appearances for them, contributing 20 goals and 85 assists. He is, however, open to signing a pre-contract with a foreign club this month for a potential summer transfer.
