Liverpool have received a major boost as they prepare to face Southampton in the Premier League, as goalkeeper Alisson has rejoined team training. The Brazilian keeper spent a considerable amount of time on the sidelines, having picked up a hamstring problem in October.

Arne Slot has revitalized his team this season after their disappointing end to life under Jurgen Klopp, leading them to the summit of the league and UEFA Champions League tables. The Dutch tactician has had to do it largely without his first-choice goalkeeper for over a month due to Alisson's injury.

Liverpool shared a video on their social media showing their players as they returned from training, and Alisson was the focus of the video, with the club announcing his imminent return.

The 32-year-old appeared to be covered in mud, indicating that he had been involved in proper goalkeeper training during the session at their AXA Training Center.

Alisson has not played a game since October 5 when he injured his hamstring in his side's 1-0 win over Crystal Palace away from home. In his absence, back-up goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher has filled in admirably, with the side winning six of seven games he missed, the only exception being their 2-2 draw with Arsenal.

Alisson may return between the sticks when the Reds face bottom-of-the-pile Southampton at the St. Mary's Stadium. This is expected to be the former AS Roma man's final season as undisputed first choice at the club, with highly-rated Georgia international Giorgi Mamardashvili set to join in the summer.

Liverpool star spotted in training as he nears return from injury

Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott is closing in on a return from a lengthy layoff as he spent the international break training with the squad. The England U-21 international has endured a frustrating season so far as he looks to establish himself in the thinking of Arne Slot.

Elliott played only seven minutes in the Premier League before suffering a fractured foot in September while on duty with the England U-21 squad. The 21-year-old has not been seen in action since then, only returning to training this week.

Harvey Elliott is pushing for a place in the Reds' squad to face Southampton, seeing as Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, and Alexis Mac Allister will all return late from international duty. The former Fulham youngster will be keen to impress if he gets a chance to feature for his side.
