Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has broken his silence on the rumors that his 20-year-old daughter Lilly-Ella Gerrard is expecting a baby with the son of a jailed criminal. The former England captain expressed his excitement at the news and 'can't wait' for the birth of his grandchild.

Lilly-Ella is the eldest of Steven Gerrard’s four children. The Liverpool icon gave birth to her with his wife, Alex Curran, on February 23, 2004. Apart from having a famous dad, Lilly-Ella is also an internet personality.

The 20-year-old has reportedly been in a relationship with Lee Bryne since October 2022, and the latter has previously referred to Gerrard’s daughter as ''the best person he’s ever met.''

Meanwhile, Lee is the son of Liam Bryne, the head of an organized crime syndicate. Liam has been embroiled in many criminal cases since his teenage years. The 44-year-old was arrested in Spain in 2023 and was recently sentenced to five years in prison after he pleaded guilty to conspiracy to import firearms.

It has now been confirmed that Lilly-Ella and her partner Lee Bryne are expecting a baby. The former announced the news of her pregnancy on Instagram on Sunday (January 5), showing her scans arranged next to two positive tests, a journal, and a tiny pair of baby boots. Showing excitement, she wrote:

''Our little secret 💙🩷 the best news, mini us is on the way @leebyrne8 👶🏼''

Her father, Steven Gerrard, responded to her post saying:

''We can't wait, great news and congratulations we love you."

Steven Gerrard's playing days are behind him. He currently manages Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq. Apart from playing for Liverpool, the midfielder also coached the youth team of the Merseyside club.

"This has been the toughest decision of my life" - When Steven Gerrard reflected on his decision to leave Liverpool

Steven Gerrard is one of the most loyal servants to have ever donned the Liverpool jersey. The England midfielder grew through the club’s youth system and spent most of his playing career at the club. He led the Reds to multiple trophies, which include the Champions League, but failed to win the Premier League.

In January 2015, Gerrard announced that his 17-year professional career with Liverpool will end in the summer. He eventually left in the summer and joined MLS side LA Galaxy. Gerrad said via Sky Sports about his decision to leave:

"This has been the toughest decision of my life and one which both me and my family have agonised over for a good deal of time. I am making the announcement now so that the manager and the team are not distracted by stories or speculation about my future."
"Liverpool Football Club has been such a huge part of all our lives for so long and saying goodbye is going to be difficult, but I feel it's something that's in the best interests of all involved, including my family and the club itself."
"I'm going to carry on playing and although I can't confirm at this stage where that will be, I can say it will be somewhere that means I won't be playing for a competing club and will not therefore be lining up against Liverpool - that is something I could never contemplate."
"My decision is completely based on my wish to experience something different in my career and life and I also want to make sure that I have no regrets when my playing career is eventually over.”

Throughout Gerrard’s time at Liverpool, he scored 186 goals and provided 155 assists in 710 goals across competitions.
