Liverpool have made Goncalo Inacio as their new target for the centre-back role amid the uncertainty of Virgil van Dijk's new contract, as per Tribal Football. Inacio is also one of the major targets for Manchester United given that their new boss Ruben Amorim has coached him at Sporting CP and apparently wants him at Old Trafford.
Along with Inacio, Amorim wants Viktor Gyokeres and Ousmane Diomande from his former club to join him at Manchester United. While Gyokeres is one of the most highly rated strikers in the world at the moment, Diomande is a solid and safe centre-back who can be relied upon in times of distress, according to Teamtalk.
Liverpool are in the market for defensive reinforcements given the uncertainty of leader van Dijk's contract. The former Southampton man's current contract comes to an end in the summer of 2025, and talks are underway between the club and his representatives regarding a renewal.
United too will want to bolster their centre-back department given that their new head coach wants to bring about a few changes in the side. Although Harry Maguire might be seen as disposable to the club, the English defender is keen on staying at Old Trafford and earning a new contract, according to TBR Football.
Liverpool lead the EPL table at the moment, while Manchester United are 13th
Liverpool went into the November international break at the top of the EPL table with 28 points to their name. They have won nine out of 11 games they have played this season, with new manager Arne Slot making a brilliant start to life at Anfield. Their closest rivals Manchester City are second with 23 points.
Manchester United, however, are perched upon the lowly 13th position of the table at the moment, and have just fifteen points inside their kitty. Their most recent 3-0 win over Leicester City at home on Sunday, November 10, is bound to give them some momentum after the international break.
