Arne Slot's Liverpool are reportedly the frontrunners in the race to sign Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni in the next summer transfer window. According to Fichajes.net, the Reds have overtaken Enzo Maresca's Chelsea for the French midfielder's signature.
Aurelien Tchouameni joined Real Madrid in July 2022 for a reported transfer fee of €80 million from Ligue 1 side Monaco. Since then, he has made 102 appearances for Los Blancos, bagging three goals and five assists. Toni Kroos retired from football after the 2024 European Championships and Luka Modric is nearing retirement, getting limited minutes.
As a result, Tchouameni has started 10 matches for Los Blancos in La Liga this season. However, he's not expected to be a part of the Santiago Bernabeu outfit in the long run, and Real Madrid might be open to selling the Frenchman in the upcoming summer for a reported fee of €60 million.
Earlier this summer, the Reds missed on signing Spanish midfielder Martin Zubimendi as the 25-year-old decided to stay at Real Sociedad. As a result, the former Monaco star can be a great signing for Liverpool.
Apart from Liverpool, other Premier League sides such as Manchester City and Chelsea are also interested in signing Aurelien Tchouameni. City and Chelsea are reportedly willing to pay around €120 million for the 24-year-old.
Celtic would have to pay record fee to sign Liverpool star: Reports
Scottish Premiership giants Celtic have reportedly learned that they would have to pay a record transfer fee to sign Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, as per Football Insider.
Last summer, Celtic signed former Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel as Englishman Joe Hart's replacement. However, Schmeichel will turn 38 this month and is nearing retirement. As a result, the Scottish giants are keen to sign a replacement for the veteran custodian.
Caoimhin Kelleher is one of the best backup goalkeepers in the world currently. However, he'll return to the bench after Alisson Becker returns. Additionally, the Reds are giving chances to Vitezslav Jaros, who made his full-time debut during the Reds' 3-2 win over Brighton and Hove Albion on Wednesday, October 30.
As a result, the Hoops see Kelleher as a potential replacement but they find Liverpool's £25-30 million transfer price too expensive. The signing of Arne Engels from Bundesliga side Augsburg earlier this year for a reported fee of £11 million is Celtic's club record.
