English giants Liverpool are willing to sell goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher next summer amid interests from other Premier League outfits. The Irish shot-stopper first joined Liverpool's youth side back in 2015 from Ringmahon.
Kelleher took on the role of first-choice goalkeeper this season amid Alisson Becker's host of injuries. The Irishman has played 13 games across competitions, keeping six clean sheets and conceding just 11 goals.
However, Alisson remains Arne Slot's number-one man between the sticks. Kelleher's position will be further complicated by the arrival of Giorgi Mamardashvili next season. The Merseysiders have already agreed to a reported £25 million transfer fee for the Georgian goalkeeper.
According to a report by Team Talk, Newcastle United are interested in signing Caoimhin Kelleher and The Reds will let him go if they can secure the right price. The club reportedly views Giorgi Mamardashvili as a future number-one goalkeeper, further jeopardizing Kelleher's position if he chooses to stay there.
As per Team Talk, the club is comfortable with Mamardashvili competing with Alisson for a place in the starting lineup. However, The Reds aren't ready to relinquish the Brazilian superstar or consider him a second choice after the arrival of the 26-year-old Georgian.
Alisson joined The Reds from AS Roma in the summer of 2018 for a reported transfer fee of €62.50 million. The Brazilian's last contract extension happened in 2021 and will last till the summer of 2027.
Liverpool's Andrew Robertson comments on Arne Slot's coaching style
Liverpool left-back Andrew Robertson has recently opened up on Arne Slot's approach to a game. The Dutch tactician joined the Merseysiders this summer and has lost just one game in his 26-match tenure at the club.
Under Slot's tutelage, the club currently sits at the summit of the Premier League table with 42 points in 17 games. In the UEFA Champions League, they have won all the games in the group stage and boast a perfect 18 points in six games so far.
On Boxing Day, Liverpool secured a 3-1 win over Leicester City with Cody Gakpo, Curtis Jones, and Mohamed Salah scoring the goals. Robertson spoke about Arne Slot's coaching methods after the game, saying (via Rousing The Kop):
“He tweaks our role in every single game. Tactically he is unbelievable! The manager demands more. I don’t think we are quite perfect in his eyes. That’s what we want.”
"You have to play different ways in different weeks. We’ve done that all season. We’ve adapted well. We have to keep doing it. You don’t win anything in December.”
The Reds will face West Ham on December 29 at the London Stadium, which will also be their last game of the year.
