Premier League giants Liverpool have rekindled their interest in Real Madrid youngster Arda Guler, according to reports form MARCA (via TBRFootball). The 19-year-old, who has been labelled the 'Turkish Messi' by CNN, is widely considered to be one of the best talents in the world.
An attacking midfielder by trade, he graduated from Turkish giants Fenerbahce's academy in 2021 and spent two successful senior seasons with them. His impressive performances earned him a €20 million move to Real Madrid in July 2023.
However, Guler suffered recurring muscle injuries that kept him out of action for almost the entire 2023-24 La Liga campaign. He still made 12 appearances towards the back end of the season, scoring six goals in the process.
He is currently at the EUROs with Turkiye and wowed everyone with his scintillating strike in the 3-1 win over Georgia (June 18). The ball was passed into his feet before he took a touch and powered it into the top left corner.
The goal made Guler the youngest scorer on EURO debut (19 years, 114 days), breaking Cristiano Ronaldo's record (19 years, 128 days) from the 2004 edition.
Liverpool seem to be keeping track of Guler's progress, and newly appointed manager Arne Slot seems keen on bringing the attacking midfielder over to Anfield.
With Real completing the signing of Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham will likely settle into an attacking midfield role from his current position higher up the pitch. With Bellingham, Vinicius, Rodrygo and Mbappe ahead of him in the pecking order, Guler could become expendable in Madrid.
However, it is believed that Los Blancos are not willing to part ways permanently with the wonderkid, which could deter Liverpool from making a move for his services.
Besides Arda Guler, Liverpool are also interested in two more Real Madrid attackers
Aside from Real Madrid midfielder Arda Guler, Liverpool are also believed to be monitoring the situation of his teammates Rodrygo Goes and Brahim Diaz. According to a report from Fichajes, the Reds are keeping tabs on all three players and a decision over a potential transfer offer is expected to be made soon.
The Brazilian was a regular starter for Real Madrid in the 2023-24 campaign. He bagged an impressive 17 goals and nine assists in 51 games across all competitions.
Brahim, meanwhile, was not a regular starter. However, he was regularly used off the bench and stepped in when the starters were sidelined with injuries, returning 12 goals and nine assists in 44 games (22 starts).
Both players' game times are set to take a hit after Kylian Mbappe's arrival at the Santiago Bernabeu. Therefore, Real Madrid could seriously consider offers from interested clubs like Liverpool for their signature.
With his positional versatility and tenacity, Brahim could be a great option for the Reds. Rodrygo could also be a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah, with rumours linking the Egyptian with a move to the Saudi Pro League.
