Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has responded to being sued for compensation by his ex-girlfriend Camila Mayan. The couple notably broke up in 2022, mere days after the midfielder won the FIFA World Cup in Qatar with Argentina. Now, Mac Allister has shared details about his current relationship with childhood friend Ailen Cova.
Camila Mayan is looking for financial compensation, having dated the midfielder for five years, up until 2022. She has also alleged that Mac Allister cheated on her with his current partner while they were together. The recent lawsuit has led the 25-year-old to open up about the relationship he had with Mayan. Mac Allister said (via The Sun):
"There was no more relationship. She took her path, I took mine, and that’s it. As for the other thing (the lawsuit), everything is in court, where it should be, and we are waiting. At the time we discussed what we needed to discuss, but it was clearly her decision, everything is fine and she is within her rights."
He also spoke about Mayan's decision to go public with the breakup, but he revealed that he was not concerned as he had not been unfaithful:
"I think it's normal in a relationship; she made the decision to come out and make public things that she felt or that she believes happened, but I know how things went and that's why I'm very calm."
Speaking about his new partner Cova, Mac Allister revealed that they were living together in England, where he plays for Liverpool:
"We are well, happy, building our life there in England, enjoying life together."
The midfielder has left Liverpool temporarily, as he is currently on international duty with Argentina. He could feature in their upcoming World Cup Qualification match against Paraguay. The two sides will face off at the Estadio ueno Defensores del Chaco on November 14.
Liverpool star Alexis Mac Allister's mother speaks about lawsuit
Alexis Mac Allister's mother Silvina Riela has spoken about the lawsuit against her son by his former girlfriend. Currently, the amount for financial compensation being requested by Camila Mayan has not been made public.
However, Riela is not concerned about the proceedings. She said (via The Sun):
"We are handling it in the best way. We have answered the lawsuit and everything is on track. Everything is on track as it should be in the courts, as she herself said.
"We are calm because we always deal with the truth and we believe in justice. Besides, we know that the laws are set up so that this progresses in a good way."
Mac Allister and his mother will both be hoping that the lawsuit does not affect or disturb his ongoing career at Liverpool. In the meantime, they will be waiting for an eventual update from the court.
