Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah shared his Ballon d’Or aspirations for next year. The Egyptian forward is in exceptional form this season, contributing a goal and two assists in the Reds' emphatic 5-0 league win over West Ham United on Sunday, December 29.

The Reds started on the front-foot, with Luis Diaz opening the scoring in the 30th minute. Cody Gakpo (40’) added a second before Salah himself found the net a minute before half-time. Trent Alexander-Arnold (54’) and substitute Diogo Jota (84’) completed the rout.

Despite five different goalscorers on the night, iSalah once again grabbed the spotlight, as he reached 20 goals across competitions for the season. His Premier League numbers are particularly impressive: 17 goals and 13 assists in 18 matches.

When asked about the possibility of winning the Ballon d’Or next year, Salah revealed that his foremost ambition is to win the Premier League.

"The only thing I want is the team to win the Premier League," he said following the game with West Ham United (via LFC Transfer Room)

The victory over the Hammers propelled the Reds eight points clear of second-placed Nottingham Forest. They have a nine-point lead over Arsenal and a 10-point advantage over Chelsea.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot discusses Mohamed Salah’s contract situation

Salah is leading Liverpool from the front, but Reds fans remain anxious about his contract situation. The 32-year-old’s current deal expires at the end of the season, but there has been no indication of whether the club intends to offer him an extension.

Starting January 1, Salah will be free to negotiate with potential suitors and could leave on a free transfer in the summer.

When asked about Salah's future, Reds boss Arne Slot said that the club are in constant communication not only with Salah and also with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk, who are on expiring contracts.

“In general, I don’t talk about contract situations here. It would be a surprise I was the one to announce that one of them has extended. It’s clear that from 1 January, maybe for you guys, things change a lot, but they are in constant talks with the club and let’s wait and see what happens.
"As long as they keep performing like this, the head coach is happy," Slot said. (via Mirror UK)

While questions about the futures of three key players remain, Liverpool are having an outstanding season as they eye their 20th top-flight title and first in five years.
