Antonio Rudiger, Jude Bellingham, and Declan Rice showered praise on Harry Maguire after the Manchester United defender scored in his side's 1-0 win over Copenhagen on Tuesday, October 24.
Maguire helped his team to much-needed three points after they lost their first two UEFA Champions League matches of the 2023/24 campaign. The Red Devils suffered defeats to Bayern Munich (4-3) and Galatasaray (3-2) in their first two group-stage matches.
The former Leicester City defender headed home Cristian Eriksen's cross in the 72nd minute of the tie, which proved to be sufficient on the night. After the match, Maguire shared a celebratory post on his Instagram account that was captioned:
"A Knight to remember."
Reacting to the 30-year-old centre-back's post, Rice, who has shared the pitch 37 times with Maguire for England, commented with a heart emoji:
"Buzzing for you H"
Meanwhile, Bellingham, who has played with the ex-Hull City man on 20 occasions for the national team, wrote:
"Love to see it H."
Rudiger, who has faced off against the Manchester United man 10 times while representing Germany and Chelsea, reacted by saying:
"Big Man."
Against Copenhagen, the centre-half won four aerial duels and one ground duel while managing an 87% passing accuracy.
After a poor start to the new campaign, Maguire looks to have found his feet, having started the Red Devils' last three matches across competitions. It will be interesting to see if he can keep up this good run of form.
Former Manchester United defender Steve Bruce pleased for Harry Maguire after Copenhagen win
Former Manchester United defender Steve Bruce said he was pleased for Harry Maguire after he scored the club's winner in their victory against Copenhagen.
Bruce, who signed Maguire during his managerial stint with Hull City, claimed that the 30-year-old defender had been the 'fall guy' for the Red Devils.
He said after the match (via BBC Sport):
"He’s been the fall guy. There’s no doubt they were better in the second half when Christian Eriksen came on and Bruno Fernandes went into what I think is his best position. Eriksen’s put a great ball in and Harry is on the end of it. I’m so pleased for him."
Maguire has managed six appearances this season across all competitions, bagging a goal and an assist.
